Chuck Jones, MA2 has assembled a nice Aldebaran Page that you might want to look at, click the link below. http://home.onemain.com/~cedarlake/Aldebaran/aldebaran.htm Here are some of the pictures off of his site. All the comments are Mr. Jones'.
"Transferring Cargo"
"That's really a person in that chair."
"I think this was someone's car we were hauling to Baltimore when we went into dry dock. I remember the first Med cruise I made, we brought back about 15-20 cars from England & France."
"Pretty sure that's the Bos'n in the yellow hardhat. I can't remember his name."
"I have no clue who the people are except I'm pretty sure that's the back of Ens Spearman's head."
"This was in November 1959. We were in dry dock in Baltimore. Does anyone remember East Baltimore Street?"
"Dry Dock - Propeller"
"Dry Dock - Stern"
"I have no idea how this survived. It was in a "Ditty Bag" full of old letters I found in my shop loft. Looks like the XO's name was Norville."
"Port au Prince Haiti - This was a Philipino Steward."
"Port au Prince Traders - I remember there were at least three people in each one of these boats. One oaring, one making deals, and one bailing the boat."
"Scullery - That is Lcdr. Keenan and Chief Dixon (?) on the right. Don't remember the sailor's name, but I do remember the incident. He was having trouble operating a newly installed dishwasher, and they were hell bent to teach him how."
There are more pictures and interesting information on Mr. Jones's site. |
